  • Motivation?

When goals aren’t motivation enough, what are some things people use to motivate themselves to keep selling? With this downturn in the economy, and sales being slow, I am having a hard time overcoming it and getting back on track.

Also speaking of goals, do you write them down for the week, month, year, etc.?

If you're goals aren't motivating enough, you need to to write new goals. Get something you are really committed to achieving and then dig in and write down why you want it. What will it mean to you when you achieve it. One other point, if you get that far and you're still not motivated, look at your beliefs around achieving the goal. You may need to change your belief system.

As far as writing your goals for the year, month, week... the answer is all of the above. You should even have daily and hourly goals.

Goals. I have yearly goals. I also  have monthly goals and each morning I write down my daily goals.

I agree with Jim  revisit your goals if you cannot  motivate yourself with your goals.Time management is another concern. Form new habits. I visit many sales sites to help motivate and remind me to remember the small details. This helps me engage my clients on a daily basis. I understand that I must take more time with my clients to make sure I give them the very best effort I can give them.

yes things are tight out there. Have you turn your car into a university on wheels? Listen to motivational success cd's,turn off the music and learn. I highly recommend a book by Brian Tracy " The art of closing the sale.

I feel your pain, but we must keep pushing. It will get better, but first, it must get better in your head.

    Keep pushin

I write my goals for both persoanl and business.  It helps to keep me focused and turn them into reality.  Try to figure out what is your true motivator.  $$, helping others, being top rep.   One of my big motivators is to be able to hand each employee a bonus check at the holidays.  The company I work for has made some cuts to salaries so it would make alot of people's holiday's brighter.  Plus larger sales will get the company back on track.  Like everyone, we've had our share of slumping sales but with persitence and a solid business plan I'm optimisitic for upcoming fiscal year.  Stay positive and start writing your goals.
