Role in 2009

Nothing inspires change like a new year. But while everyone is busy making New Year's resolutions to lose weight or stop smoking, consider focusing your new years resolution on improving your leadership role within your company or organization. With these four simple tips, you will not only improve your role as a leader, but also your sales team’s morale, your own sanity and your company’s overall productivity.

1. Evaluate the status of last year’s goals and establish this year’s goals.

There is no better feeling than sitting down and realizing just how much your sales team has accomplished over the past year. While doing this, however, you will also realize what you can improve on this year. Keep the past goals in mind and set new ones. A set of attainable goals can be a great inspiration.

Make Time for
Time Management

One of the most stressful aspects of a profession in sales is not having enough time to get everything done. The phone calls, emails and paperwork keep piling on and you never seem to get a break from it. You can avoid this extra stress with quality time management skills. Use these four techniques “to keep your head above water” and on the right track.

1. Be effective, then efficient

Often effectiveness and efficiency are used interchangeably, but they are two different concepts. Effectiveness is using means to get things done, while efficiency is doing things correctly without wasting time. Where do you start? Try to be an effective sales person and then work on cutting out wasted time with efficiency.
