Hello ShonPaul. You are absolutely correct. It's actually more important how you open the sale than how you close it. Your statement of intention and primary bonding statements should be in words that are comfortable for you to say. We don't teach a "script;" however, we recommend that certain ideas be included in these statements. For example, I used to recruit people for military service, so I worked closely with families and individuals. In forming your statement of intention, be sure to state the purpose of your meeting and what you would like to accomplish: "The purpose of our meeting today is to get to know each other a little better, ask you some questions, let you ask me some questions and find out if _________ is an option you might be interested in." I like the word option because it reduces the pressure right from the start. My bonding statement went something like this: "I've worked with many people (businesses or families) just like you/yours, and I've discovered that when I help them get what they want (or are looking for), things work out best for everyone, and that's how I'd like to work with you. Does that sound reasonable?" If I get a positive response, I then ask permission to ask questions and permission to write down the answers. Good luck!
